Safety on the Mountains

safety on the mountainsA few simple safety tips when out and about can make for a much safer and more enjoyable walk. The important thing to remember is that the weather can (and probably will) change as you climb higher up the mountain. What might start off as a nice hot sunny day can turn out to be very cold and wet at the top. Visibility can also change rapidly so make sure you are able to navigate using a map and compass.

Make sure you get in plenty of training before taking on your challenge, both in the gym and out on the mountains. Professional training courses are also a great idea – both for physical preparation and also navigation and general awareness. Hiring a Mountain Leader is also a great idea to guide you safely.

Check out our safety page and equipment page as a guide to the provisions you will need.
